Lyra
Lyra (Tashunkas Lyrical Expression)
R-A and Tenley were selected for the 2018 Kentucky Extreme Mustang Makeover and drove to Tennessee in February of 2018 to pick up their assigned horses. On the morning of February 23, 2018 bay mare number 14624239 was assigned to R-A. On the drive to and from Tennessee R-A and Tenley listened to the book, Golden Compass. After hauling the horses across the country in the middle of a winter storm, they felt that the bay mare shared many of the same qualities as the books main character. Then and now Lyra continues to be independent, smart, willful, brave, confident, and a bit opinionated at times.
During the short time Lyra was at Tashunka she showed enormous potential and become quite popular with the students that helped with her gentling. In June of 2018 the team from Washington traveled back across the country to Kentucky for the EMM contest and auction. Narrowly winning the bid on Lyra at the auction, and with the help of clients donations, R-A was able to bring her back home.
Since the contest, Lyra has been involved in Mustang demonstrations at the county fair, competed in Western Dressage, gone trail riding, been to the beach, and helped to teach ground work and lunging lessons.
