Behavioral Studies
Hundreds of hours have gone into studying horses in the wild and noting their individual behaviors. We’ve compiled data on how horses sleep, eat, drink, lie down, travel, relieve themselves, play, argue, scuffle, and more. These studies have been across seasons to compare behaviors during a variety of weather conditions, reproductive cycles, and the availability of forage and water.
Feed Analysis
During seasonal visits forage samples are collected from the plants the horses are consuming, as well as fecal specimens and water consumption observations. All samples are sent to independent labs for review. It has been surprising to learn how little horses need to thrive, and how much the forage quality changed throughout the seasons.
